Drawing Reflections
1. I feel that the strong parts of my drawing is the horses face and the saddle because I took the most time and put the most care into shading these parts.
2. I think I could have worked harder on drawing the horses legs and making them look more real because I was more worried about the drawing the rest of the piece. Some of the leg parts don't look exactly up to scale in size of the rest of the body.
3. I chose to draw a picture of me barrel racing because of the horse I was on. This horse meant a lot to me and gave me her all every time at age 18. I recently had to give her back to where she came from.
4. In my drawing I used a gray scale because I could more easily shade light and dark values into the piece. Some of the lighter values are toward the left because of the morning sun. The darker values are in more of the shadows more toward the front of the piece.
5. Some areas I got to stand out on my drawing are the horses face, the saddle, my face, and the barrel. I spent the most time on these areas creating emphasis by adding lots of details, and mulitple different shades of the gray scale. I wanted the spectators eye to immediately look at these parts of the piece first.
6. I learned that it is important to take your time, draw to scale, and only draw what you see. Because I really wanted to draw this piece, it turned out good. I think that using a grid helped me "break up" the drawing and not feel overwhelmed.
7. I started by drawing the horses face and working all the way down and up the right side. My main reason for doing this was because I am left handed and didn't want to smear my work. This wasn't planned but turned out great. I originally had a differnt image of a horse sketched out for my preliminary desgings but I like how this turned out better.
8. I think this is a worthwhile project because it gives us the creativity to draw what we want, and we learned on our own what works for us while drawing, and what does not. I don't think anything should be changed because everything worked out well.
