4-D Portrait Reflections- November 27, 2012
Some of the strong parts of my portfolio is that I have variety in my photos because I took pictures from school and over Thanksgiving break. I also like the lighting and overall composition of my photots. I think I could have done a better job with taking my indoor pictures because I realized that I sometimes cover the flash with my hand. I think one of my best photos is of a girl with her sisters baby horse. I think it is one of my best because it follows the rule of thirds, has natural lighting, and tells a story about the day. I tried to use mostly natural lighting except for when a flash was needed indoors. I captured the essence of humanity by taking pictures of people mostly doing things and there expressions. I did this because it occors most naturally frequently and isn't "posed." I used alot of hands, feet, and faces in my portraits and not as many full body shots. I did this because I think they are the most creative parts of the body. I learned through this project that you don't need awesome backgrounds to take creative photos of people. I also learned how to operate my camera more efficiently and what settings work best. I took pictures that were easy to find and didn't need to be set-up, and also used places where I already was and didn't require travel. I ended up changing my plan because I took quite a few pictures at school that I ended up using and then still took some at home with my family and animals. At the end I sorted all of my pictures and edited some. I think this is a worthwhile project and that we were given a good length of time. One thing that might help would be to have activites going on during school where we can take pictures, instead of just each other.
